our lives are like
paths . . .
They both take unexpected twists and turns.
Sometimes it's an easy stroll & the way's clear . . . . Sometimes it's uneven & uphill.
Our moods are like the weather, always shifting.
We can always pick ourselves up again when we trip along the way.
If we take the time to look, we'll see the
beautiful details
& the distance we've already come.
My path

I didn't dream of being a writer, but looking back now, I think it was kinda destined. I was a homeschooled kid with oodles of time to discover magical worlds in books and explore them in my backyard. All my toys were given backstories and displayed in scenes across our house.
As a tween, I finally began writing stories down. My first novel sputtered and died at chapter 5 when I was 10 (may it rest in plotless peace).
Then an idea sprouted:
a girl named Katie
drawn to a place called Elvenworld.
That simple idea has put down roots, growing deeper than I imagined and branching out in unexpected directions.
Since those early days, I have earned my Associates in Arts and will graduate with a BA in English & Creative Writing this spring. I have written and workshopped multiple fantasy works, including original short stories and rewritten-from-scratch chapters of my young adult novel The Maiden's Fire.
I write for the same reasons I read: to find touches of whimsy, snaps of humor, and currents of emotion that spill over in dialogue. To feel I'm part of a world through the cores of its characters. (I know I'm doing something right when they start talking, gesturing, stepping on each others' toes, and falling in love of their own accord in my head)

I . . .
am the owner of an
overflowing bookshelf.
love the woods and the gnomes that live there.
go insane without
a journal and a planner.
My dream is to live
this messy, beautiful life to its fullest
& to encourage others as they do the same.
Your path

Pondering the Path is for you . . .
-
If you think there's enough negativity and loneliness in the world
-
if you believe in self-discipline and self-love
-
if you’re a work-in-progress
-
if you search for silver linings to brighten dark days
-
if you’re a bookworm for fantasy and coming-of-age stories
-
if you’re encouraged by affirmations and devotionals
-
if you’ve read this far into my scribblings
